(29.08.2007) The Tunza International Children's Conference on the Environment 2008 will take place in Stavanger, Norway from 16 to 21 June 2008. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Young Agenda 21 collaborate as organisers of the conference.

UNEP's Tunza conferences are based on Agenda 21, which is the document ratified by world leaders at the 1992 World Summit for Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Agenda 21 states that children and youth must be active in decisions concerning the future environment, and that governments should create arenas where their voices can be heard.
Tunza 2008 is the 7th UNEP conference for children since 1995. Approximately 1000 delegates and chaperones from 100 nations will gather in Norway to share their ideas and experiences. Former conferences have been held in Great Britain (twice), Kenya, Canada, in the United States and in Malaysia. The first "Children's World Summit on the Environment" was held in Japan in July 2005.
The motto for Tunza 2008 is "Creating Change", and daily themes will also be presented.
