What should you bring to the conference?
(15.05.2008) Although days are long and nights short in Norway in June, it may be quite chilly, and conference delegates should bring proper clothes. The temperatures in Stavanger may vary between +15 and +25 degrees Celsius. You can check the weather forecast here before leaving for Norway: http://www.weathercity.com/no/stavanger/.

You do not need to bring bed linen.
Here is a list of necessary or useful items to bring:
- proper clothing for one week’s stay, including long trousers, a warm sweater, a jacket (wind proof), rainwear (preferably trousers and jacket), good shoes for outdoor activities, sports clothing (shorts and t-shirt for football etc.), indoor shoes to wear at the Madla camp
- A small padlock for the room locker if you have
- An umbrella
- A national costume if you have one
- Personal hygiene articles
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Towels
- A little rucksack for daytrips/fieldtrips
- Paper and pens
- If you like, some small gifts to share with new friends. That could be stickers, photos or postcards from your home place, etc.
- A camera if you like (make sure to name it properly!)
- Pocket money: This should be very limited, and there will be very few opportunities to spend money during the conference. Chaperones, children and parents/guardians should agree on this matter, and organise a “banking” system for their group. You can pay by credit card at almost all shops – Visa and Mastercard are most widely used in Norway - and one can draw cash from cash machines. There is one at the University of Stavanger. There is also a bank at the airport (first floor).
- An adapter for electricity if necessary – the Norwegian voltage is 220V.
- Your travel insurance policy. Every child and chaperone must purchase their travel insurance prior to the trip!
