“I enjoyed every second of my stay. Everybody showed concern for the environment, and there was friendship among people from all these countries, all fighting for one cause”, says one of the participants from Mauritius.
Variety of activities
Children from around the world inspired the audience by presenting their environmental projects in the morning plenary sessions. Themes like recycling electronic waste, tree planting campaigns and energy consumption were addressed by children for children. Everyone should be able to take the inspiring ideas home and make it their own.
“To meet like-minded people and to learn so much about what wonderful initiatives kids around the world are undertaking” was what a participant from Canada found most important.
A variety of workshops and fieldtrips was offered, as well as dialogue groups and activities at the “Eco Village”. Numerous Norwegian and international companies and NGOs contributed to the magnitude of the programme.
A barbeque event, an evening boat trip, sports activities and a multi-religious gathering at the medieval Stavanger Cathedral were also on offer. Despite some heavy rains and many soaked shoes, children and chaperones enjoyed the activities and took the opportunity to make new friends and to learn about each others’ challenges and solutions.
